WHERE?

OREGON
part of the
Great NorthWest

Here are a few pictures that I have taken around the state.
I want to show you that our state is a great place to be.
We have all kinds of country side and weather, from the
hot desert to the cold mountains and to our rocky beautiful beaches.

Mt. Hood

Hood1.JPG Mt. Hood is the largest mountain in Oregon.
As part of the Cascade Range, it raises to a
height of 11,239 feet above the sea level.

Mt. Hood is one of three mountains that
can be seen from the city of Portland.
There are several ski resorts on the
snowy mountains.

This picture is looking East to
Mt. Hood on Hwy 26.

Portland

portnite.JPG portday.JPG This is the city of
Portland.
The left is at night time
and the right is at day time.
Portland is known as the Rose City.

In June, the city has their
Rose City Festival.

There are a lot of things to do throughout the Portland city.
There are Parades, Auto racing, Hot air Balloon races,
to the River Front Carnival.

The Gorge

Gorge.JPGThis is the Columbia Gorge.
The Columbia River runs between
Washington and Oregon states.
This shot was taken from Crown Point,
the Oregon side of the river,
through the Gorge looking east.

It is said that the Gorge
is one of the best places for wind surfing.

Hwy 84 runs along the Columbia River the Oregon side.

Multnomah Falls

fall1.JPG fall2.JPG Here are a couple of many
falls that lays along
the Gorge.

The picture on the left is at winter
time, as the cold wind blows through
the Gorge it shows off a beautiful sight
as the falls freeze up.

The picture on the right is in the
summer time, as the falls can be just as
beautiful sight.

Hwy 84 runs along the Columbia River.
Many people that travels through the Gorge
stops by the falls to look, take pictures,
and hike on the trails to the top of the falls.

Their is also a scenic road that take you to the others falls along the Gorge.

Oregon Coast

beach2.JPG This is one of the rocky beaches in Oregon.
This picture is taken from Ecola State Park
that over looks Cannon Beach on a stormy
day. The Oregon coast gives a great show
of storms that ride in from the sea.

When the whales migrate they pass by these
beaches presenting unique opportunities for
whale watchers.

Hwy 101 runs along the coast.

Eastern Oregon

EastOr.JPG Hood2.JPG Those two shots are of
Eastern Oregon.

The picture on the left is
overlooking The Three Rivers.

The picture on the right is looking
west to the Mt. Hood.

In the winter the east is cover with snow and cold,
as the summers are hot and dry. As the rain storms
comes over the cascade mountains, the storms
put on a show of lightening, which can start a fire
very easy. The land is mostly of farming fields and
of cattle country.
